Healing Emotional Pain

Therapies based on psychoanalytic principles offer ways to understand our emotions and to heal the pain that can affect and limit daily life. The therapy is a partnership in which the therapist and the patient collaborate to discover and work through the psychological blocks that interfere with life.

Psychoanalytic treatments are based on the belief that emotional difficulties are often the result of thoughts and feelings outside of a person's awareness. By exploring and working through these issues in the safety of a trusting relationship with a therapist, one can experience lasting changes. Present stresses and crises are also contributors to one's sense of well-being and can be an important focus for therapeutic intervention.

Our therapists work with patients who have various issues including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, eating problems, and relationship problems. Psychoanalytic treatments help patients to understand the origins of their problems and to find long-term solutions to them.

Not only adults, but also children and adolescents are often unaware of why they are unhappy or having problems. We help children with a broad range of problems that disturb their sense of well-being and their ability to grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Helping parents to understand their children is also an important part of this process.

The Clinics

Psychoanalysis Clinic
Psychoanalysis is an intensive form of therapy with the goal of profound and long-lasting change. Psychoanalysis requires frequent sessions - four to five per week. Psychoanalysis is available for adults, adolescents, and children at a greatly reduced fee.

Psychotherapy Clinic
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is also an in-depth treatment, but it is less intensive than psychoanalysis. Psychotherapy is helpful in dealing with immediate crises and in resolving longer-term problems. The clinic offers psychotherapy at a reduced fee for adults, adolescents, and children.

How We Can Help

Initial Assessment
Treatment begins with a one-hour initial assessment. The purpose of the initial assessment is to evaluate the nature of your problem(s) and to determine the appropriate treatment plans.

Fees
Fees are established during the initial assessment and, above a minimum fee, are based on your income and ability to pay. Many insurance plans will also provide coverage.

Referral
Individuals will be referred to one of our staff of psychoanalysts or psychotherapists. If the assessment indicates that our clinical services are not appropriate for your needs, a referral to another mental health therapist or agency will be recommended.
