Cinema on the Couch
2007-08 Series

A Film and Discussion Series on the North Shore
sponsored by the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis

cinema on the couch In this series we bring together cinema and psychoanalysis. The artistry of cinema is an ideal medium for illustrating and discussing the deep emotional issues that constitute the life-blood of psychoanalysis. Each year we have selected films with a common thread that allow exploration of a broad range of issues relevant to our times. Topics have included intimacy, love, alienation, family dynamics, coming of age, and sexuality.

The theme this year is THE OUTSIDER. Film showings followed by discussion will take place on Sunday afternoons from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Each film will be discussed by a different member of the Institute for Psychoanalysis.

Series Moderator: James M. Fisch, M.D.
